Beneficiaries of WFP cash distribution to vulnerable populations affected by food and nutrition insecurity in the Savanes and Kara regions. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is stepping up its emergency food assistance to more than 30,000 people affected by the spillover of the Sahel security crisis into the Savanes regions of northern Togo – in particular refugees, internally displaced persons, and members of the host community. Thanks to a financial contribution from the European Union through the Directorate General for Civil Protection and European Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), WFP in partnership with the National Civil Protection Agency (ANPC), is providing cash transfers to the targeted people, enabling them to procure their food to meet their basic food and nutritional needs. To strengthen the nutritional status of the most vulnerable, households composed of pregnant and lactating women and children under two years of age will receive a specialised nutritional food supplement and nutritional advice adapted to their needs, in addition to cash transfers.
